Ideas in Action Net Neutrality Debate
There’s a pretty good 30 minute debate on net neutrality between Mike McCurry of Arts+Labs and Craig Aaron of Free Press on Jim Glassman’s Ideas in Action TV show, with Cecilia Kang playing the role of neutral party. Aaron recounts his organization’s traditional view that the Internet was born free, but lives everywhere in chains thanks to the Bush Administration’s de-regulation of DSL, while McCurry says it’s not the past that matters so much as the future. Kang points out that the Congress is not going to impose onerous regulations on the Internet, so either the FCC takes up the cause or it doesn’t happen. The third way – which doesn’t get any time – is for the BITAG to oversee the system while we’re waiting for a durable policy from Congress.
